If you live in Italy and are thinking of upgrading your home appliances, the 2025 appliance bonus could help you save money while replacing old, inefficient devices. After being announced in the Official Gazette in early October and confirmed by the MIMIT decree of 22 October 2025, the scheme is now operational.

What Italy's Appliance Bonus is

Italy's newest bonus allows you to get a discount on certain large household appliances by trading in an older device. You receive a voucher that the retailer applies as a discount at the time of purchase. To qualify, the old appliance must be of the same type but lower energy class, and the retailer is responsible for its proper disposal for recycling.

How to apply

Applications will open soon and continue until the total fund of €48.1 million is used. To apply, you’ll need:

  • A valid SPID or CIE, or access via the IO app.
  • Proof that the appliance being replaced is of the same type but lower energy class.
  • A valid 2025 ISEE certificate if you wish to claim the higher bonus.

The bonus is €100 per household, or €200 for households with an ISEE below €25,000 per year. Once your eligibility is confirmed, the platform issues a voucher valid for 15 days, which you present to the retailer when purchasing your new appliance.

Which appliances are eligible

The bonus applies only to large appliances such as:

  • Refrigerators
  • Washing machines
  • Dishwashers
  • Ovens

Small appliances are excluded. The new appliance must also be produced in the EU.

How it works in practice

When you use the voucher, the retailer reduces the sale price by the voucher amount and issues an invoice showing the discount. The old appliance must be handed over for recycling, and the retailer keeps records of the transaction. If the voucher is not used within 15 days, you can reapply according to the official rules.

Why it’s worth considering

The appliance bonus is a simple way to upgrade your home, reduce energy consumption, and save money. It’s also an opportunity to replace outdated appliances responsibly, in line with Italy’s recycling and environmental standards.
