Where is the best weather in Italy? Which cities have the best climate? To find out, let's take a look at the top 10 ranking drawn up by the Italian newspaper Sole 24 Ore according to the climate index in collaboration with 3BMeteo.

In detail, the climate index published by Sole 24 Ore is based on climate data provided by 3Bmeteo on the decade 2011-2021, looking especially at questions such as the least humid place in Italy, the warmest place in Italy in winter and many more. The index takes into account several factors such as:

  • sunshine
  • heat index
  • heat waves
  • extreme events
  • summer breezes
  • relative humidity
  • wind gusts
  • rainfall
  • fog
  • cold days

The podium of cities with the best weather in Italy is formed, in order, by: Imperia, Bari and Pescara. Among the big cities, Cagliari is just outside the top ten in 11th place and Rome is 22nd, followed by Genoa (27th), Venice (31st) and Naples (34th). All the others, however, meet in the second half of the ranking, the last being Milan in 91st place.

These are the top 10 cities with the best weather in Italy

Imperia occupies first place in the ranking thanks to its very few heat waves. Imperia Italy weather is characterised by pleasant year round temperatures. In the Ligurian capital, in fact, only 34 occasions of more than three consecutive days over 30°C were recorded in the decade under consideration, compared to a national average of 186 days.

Bari

Bari occupies second place and is one of the least humid places in Italy. Here there are on average 8.5 hours of sunshine per day, compared to an average of 7.9 in the rest of Italian cities. Furthermore, only 151 days per year are recorded for relative humidity, very few compared to the 240 in Belluno, for example. On top of this, a pleasant breeze, with an average of 7.2 knots of wind per day in the summer season, eases the torrid nights without having to turn on the air conditioning.

Pescara takes the third step on the podium. This is mainly due to the very few heat waves that have been experienced from 2011 to 2021. Also raising the quality of the climate is the figure for rainfall, as the city rarely experiences heavy rainfall.
