After an ambitious three-year regeneration project, the transformation of the former Hotel Britannia — a historic landmark overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Como — is now complete. What was once a traditional three-star property has been reborn as The Edition Lake Como, a sophisticated five-star destination that perfectly blends contemporary design with timeless Italian elegance.
The redevelopment was overseen by Drees & Sommer, a global consulting and project management company operating in more than 50 countries and with a strong presence in Italy for over 25 years. Their expertise ensured the smooth delivery of every phase of the project, from the initial concept through design development to final construction.
Particular attention was given to guest experience and comfort. The original 300 rooms of the early 19th-century building have been entirely redesigned to create 148 spacious rooms and suites, each offering refined interiors, bespoke furnishings, and the latest in modern amenities. The result is a collection of spaces that feel both intimate and sophisticated, with views that capture the enchanting beauty of Lake Como.
The redevelopment also saw the addition of a new contemporary wing, designed to house essential high-end facilities including underground parking, meeting rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness area, and a serene, elegant spa. These new amenities complement the hotel’s historic architecture, preserving its soul while elevating it to meet the expectations of today’s discerning travellers.
With its renewed elegance and impeccable attention to detail, The Edition Lake Como stands as a symbol of refined luxury and architectural excellence — a place where history, design, and Italian hospitality come together on one of the world’s most beautiful lakes.
