Arcomagno Beach, in San Nicola Arcella on the Tyrrhenian coast, is also known as Enea’s Beach, named after the legendary Aeneas who is said to have stopped here. What to expect at Arcomagno Beach
This small cove offers a sandy and pebbly beach surrounded by rocky cliffs. The water is crystal clear, shifting from turquoise to emerald depending on the light. It’s a perfect spot for snorkelling or simply relaxing away from crowds.
Unlike the nearby beaches, Arcomagno Beach doesn’t have beach clubs or facilities. If you’re planning to swim beneath the arch, you’ll need to bring your own water, snacks and shade.

Thanks to its natural formation, Arcomagno Beach is one of the best spots along the Riviera dei Cedri to watch the sunset. You can watch the sun slowly set into the sea, colouring the sky and water with warm, golden tones. Just before sunset, you’ll see the sunlight pass directly through the arch, creating beautiful reflections in the water.
How to get to Arcomagno Beach
The most common way to reach Arcomagno Beach is by walking along the scenic trail from the historic centre of San Nicola Arcella. The path starts near Torre Crawford, a historic watchtower overlooking the coast.
The walk is fairly short but includes some steep and slippery sections, especially towards the end where a staircase carved into the rock leads down to the beach. It’s best to wear sturdy shoes and carry only essentials.
A much easier way to see Arcomagno Beach is by sea. Boat trips run regularly from the small harbour in San Nicola Arcella and from nearby Praia a Mare. You can also hire a pedalo from the nearby Marinella Beach. However, it’s important to note that swimming or passing under the arch is not allowed.
Do you have to pay to enter Arcomagno Beach?
As it is a protected area, there is an entry fee to visit Arcomagno Beach. The beach is open from 8:30 am to 8 pm, and visitors can stay for up to 30 minutes. Tickets cost €4 for adults and €2 for children up to 12 years old.
The fee includes a shuttle from the car park to Marinella Beach. Note that food and drinks, smoking, and bulky items are not permitted on the beach.
