Italy figures fourth in the list of the best nationality to be for travelling abroad

Having a good passport opens the doors to many countries in the world. There are certain places you can’t visit if you are not of a specific nationality. That’s not to mention that having one of these documents in hand will save you time since some countries don’t require an additional visa to enter if you’ve got one.

Here is the ranking of the best nationality passports to have in the world, according to the Passport Index:

First place goes to (drumroll please) Singapore; its citizens can travel to 164 countries without any visa or other restrictions. The silver medal goes to South Korea with 163. The bronze medals are disputed by Japan and Germany, with both countries jointly occupying third place in the ranking with 162 countries each.

Italy comes in an astonishing fourth place, so it might be time to start thinking about getting your Italian nationality about now! Italy is tied with Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France and Spain, all of them having unrestricted access to 161 countries.

At the other end of the list are the countries with the most travel restrictions, but that’s another story for another day! It’s still unclear whether the UK will have more travel restrictions within Europe after Brexit comes into effect on 19th March 2019, so watch this space for updates.
