How do you get to Tropea, Italy?

Reaching Tropea, the most beautiful village in Italy, is not the easiest task. However, your journey will be greatly rewarded as soon as you catch sight of this stunning village in Calabria, located in the province of Vibo Valentia.

While it's easiest to arrive by car, there are also options for travelling to Tropea by public transport. The nearest airport to Tropea is Lamezia Terme International Airport and from there, you ned to catch a bus or take a taxi to Lamezia Terme station. Here, you'll be able to then catch another train to Tropea, a journey which takes about an hour but only costs a few euros one way.

Where is Tropea located?

Perched on an imposing cliff overlooking the sea, Tropea is one of the jewels of Calabria and the entire peninsula, and it is no coincidence that it was chosen as the most beautiful village in Italy in 2021. Tropea is located on the western side of the region of Calabria, on the coast washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea, known as the Costa degli Dei (Coast of the Gods).

Nearby you will also find Capo Vaticano, a promontory overlooking the sea that is about 20 minutes by car from Tropea. According to legend, in ancient times the promontory was inhabited by an oracle to whom local sailors would turn to before embarking on a sea voyage. The sea surrounding Capo Vaticano is ideal for scuba diving in Italy, something which can also be enjoyed on the nearby beaches of Pizzo and Marina di Zambrone.
