If you are interested in buying a €1 house, a truly unusual listing has appeared on idealista: a farmhouse in Montechiaro d’Asti for just €1.
What makes it stand out? It is being sold by estate agency Ramello Agency and, unlike the schemes backed by municipalities, it comes with no restrictions or post-purchase obligations. “You buy it for the price of a potato and then decide what to do with it,” reads the advert.
Fabrizio Ramello, owner of the agency, agreed with the seller of the farmhouse on this way of bringing the property to market. As the building requires complete restoration, it has been placed on sale for just €1, giving the buyer full freedom to do as they wish and customise it as they see fit.
At present, the property is not habitable due to its state of disrepair, but with appropriate renovation it could become an attractive home in a central location, with all utilities and services close at hand.
The property is an old farmhouse in the centre of the village, and its residential section has almost entirely collapsed. The barn and garage areas, however, are structurally sound and can be restored, making it possible to create a home within the former barn.
By demolishing and clearing the area of the collapsed residential section, it would also be possible to create a private courtyard of 80 square metres.
The building measures 200 commercial square metres, with four rooms, no bathroom, a double garage included in the price, and a south-facing orientation. A blank canvas on which to design a dream home from scratch.
