Italy has become famous for its 1-euro homes, where buyers have the possibility of getting themselves a dilapidated house, almost for free, and then renovating it in a bid to repopulate dying Italian villages. The beautiful Italian village of Biccari, which is located in the region of Puglia, is also selling homes in need of renovation for 1 euro. However, unlike other towns and villages in Italy, Biccari is also selling cheap homes which are ready to live in. Let’s find out more about these cheap homes for sale in Biccari, Italy

Surrounded by beautiful woods and vast countryside, Biccari is a real treasure in the Puglia region of Italy, one of the cheapest places to live in Italy. With its medieval traditions that still live on in 2021, this charming village is also known for its gastronomy scene, making it a great place for foodies. The area prides itself in its unusual white pizza made in a traditional open oven, while the local extra-virgin olive has been described as “heaven on earth”.

The prices of these cheap properties for sale in Puglia start at around 7,500 euros each and reach maximum prices of 13,000 euros. The aim of this latest real estate initiative in Italy is to bring the rural town back to life after years of depopulation. The mayor of Biccari, Gianfilippo Mignogna, told CNN in a recent interview that "depopulation is an open wound, a steady phenomenon. Locals keep leaving and while most used to come back during the summer to visit, now they no longer do so. Many of the habitable houses in the village are empty and are falling into oblivion." There are currently only 2,000 residents in Biccari.

While the 1-euro homes that you can purchase in Italy usually require lots of work in order to make them liveable, these turnkey houses for sale in Biccari are ready to live in straight away.
