The super green pass decree has introduced an enhanced green certificate in Italy, which will be in force from 6 December to 15 January. But let's see in detail what it is, how to get it, how to download it and what are the differences between the super green pass and the basic green pass and where to use one or the other

Super green pass - how is it obtained?

The super green pass is the green certification that can only be obtained by those who are vaccinated with two doses or who have recovered from covid. Unlike the basic green pass, which is also obtained with a negative molecular swab (72 hours of validity) or a rapid swab (48 hours of validity).

In both cases: with the super green pass (or enhanced green pass) and the basic green pass, the validity is reduced from 12 months to 9 months.

The super green pass will be valid for a number of mainly recreational activities in the period from 6 December to 15 January, which will therefore be precluded to those who are not vaccinated, regardless of the region, even in the white zone.

Super green pass restaurants, cinemas, theatre

The super green pass will be compulsory to enter indoor activities such as restaurants, cinemas, theatres or ceremonies. Holders of the basic green pass will be allowed access to restaurants, but only outdoors.

Super green pass for gyms and swimming pools?

If you want to access gyms and swimming pools, or sports centres in general, including changing rooms, you do not need a super green pass, but only a basic green pass.

Super green pass for going to the stadium

A super green pass will be required to go to a stadium in any area. You will not be able to access the stadium with a simple test.

Green pass for work, just the swab is sufficient

As far as access to workplaces is concerned, the obligation to present the basic green pass will remain, i.e. even a negative test will be sufficient. But beware: access to the workplace canteen requires an enhanced green pass.

Green pass for public transport

As far as public transport is concerned, the previous rules that introduced the green pass obligation for long-distance transport remain in force. But the use of the green pass is also extended to local, regional and interregional public transport. In this case, checks will not be carried out at the time of access, but on a random basis.

Green pass for skiing

As far as skiers are concerned, there is a difference. For skiing in the white and yellow zones, a green pass is sufficient, but in the orange zone an enhanced green pass is required. In the red zone, lifts are closed for everyone

Green pass required for hotels

A basic green pass will be required to stay in hotels from 6 December. For this reason, those who enter the hotel restaurant, if they are staying there, must also present the basic green pass.

How does someone who already has a green pass get a super green pass?

To obtain the super green pass the rules do not change, the only difference is that you no longer get it with the swab. After the vaccine, an AUTHCODE code is sent by message or email, which is needed to download the certificate from the government platform. It can also be downloaded from the Immuni app with the health card number and in this case the code will not be needed.

Those who already have a green pass obtained after vaccination or recovery from the covid do not need to do anything except be careful about its validity, as it expires nine months after the vaccine.
