If you’re hunting for things to do this Halloween in Italy, 2025 is shaping up nicely with witchy festivals in medieval borghi, grand-villa masquerades and lantern-lit ghost walks. During Halloween in Italy, expect a playful mix of costume parties and the more reflective Ognissanti traditions.

Halloween in Italy 2025: what to expect in the main cities

Rome

Expect a busy mix of ghost walks, catacombs, festa in maschera (fancy-dress) club nights and kid-friendly workshops. Late-night public transport varies by line, and 1st November can shift opening hours.

Bologna

Student energy concentrates near Via Zamboni with parties, themed shows and museum-led activities, while broader-audience nights pop up across the porticoed centre.

Florence

After-hours museum openings, themed dinners and foodie workshops are the flavour. You'll also find spooky night walking tours that reveal a darker side of the city. Timed entries are common, and dress codes are normally smart-casual.

Naples

Lively piazza scenes and dark-history walks, with underground sites adding atmosphere. Expect late dining, spirited crowds and neighbourhood noise rules.

Milan

DJ-led nights and curated cocktails dominate, where guest lists and dress codes are the norm. The metro runs late but not all night, so check last departures for your line.

Venice

The mood is more atmospheric than raucous, with lantern-lit streets, theatre-led experiences and mask culture adding drama. Keep an eye on tides around the date so you don't get stranded.

Turin

Esoteric tours and arcaded evening strolls set a cultured tone in the elegant centre, with cafés and chocolate-season treats extending the night. Book small-group experiences early and layer up, as nights turn crisp.

There's street theatre, kids’ labs, markets and the iconic Tunnel della Paura. It's free entry to public areas, with some timed attractions, and a schedule that rolls from late afternoon into the early hours. Expect live concerts and DJ parties across the weekend, family-friendly afternoons, and a birthday‑themed Halloween Day on 31st October.

Halloween Celebration Carnival, Villa Reale di Marlia, Lucca

The 31st edition runs on 31st October 2025 from 4 pm to 2 am in the park of Villa Reale di Marlia. It's billed as Italy’s first and largest Halloween fest.

Fucacoste e Cocce Priatorje, Orsara di Puglia

A medieval‑rooted All Saints’ Night rite blending faith and folklore. The town lights broom bonfires, the fucacoste, and sets glowing carved pumpkins, the cocce priatorje, to honour and guide the dead. There are workshops, guided visits, music and theatre from late afternoon into the night.

It’s free to attend and suitable for all, but expect crowds, smoke and narrow lanes.

Halloween at Museo Stibbert, Florence

Night opening with a themed set‑up and free roaming through armour rooms. Also features a staff‑led trick-or-treat, and a playful “museo infestato” trail where kids who find the exit earn a golden coin from the “tesoro dei fantasmi”.
