From the I-Days in Milan to open-air gigs in Puglia’s parks, and on to the international buzz of Florence and Lucca, summer in Italy is once again one of the best times of year to catch live music.

So which music festivals are taking place in Italy in summer 2026? Here’s a round-up of the key dates worth noting down.

I-Days Milan

25 June to 10 September

I-Days returns to Milan in summer 2026 as one of Italy’s leading festivals, with all events hosted between the San Siro Hippodrome and La Maura. Running from 25 June to 10 September, highlights include Maroon 5, the only Italian date for Florence + The Machine in early July, and a high-impact show from the Foo Fighters, joined by alternative bands such as Idles and Fat Dog.

The following day it’s the turn of System of a Down, with major guests including Queens of the Stone Age. In September, David Guetta and A$AP Rocky are on the bill, with just one Italian act appearing in the line-up.

Rock in Rome

9 June to 18 July

Rock in Roma is one of the longest-running and most varied festivals of the season. From early June to the end of July, it turns the Capannelle Hippodrome (as well as the Auditorium’s Cavea) into a huge stage for rock, rap, international pop and K-pop.

The 2026 edition opens with loud punk rock courtesy of The Offspring and special guests, followed by live shows from rappers such as Gemitaiz and Luchè, and major concerts by Negramaro, Caparezza, Mannarino, Litfiba and Bluvertigo.

International stars are also on the programme: Counting Crows, OneRepublic, Ben Harper, Marilyn Manson, Mumford & Sons and ATEEZ for K-pop fans.

Firenze Rocks

12 to 14 June

Firenze Rocks remains a key fixture of the Italian summer, with a compact format over just a few days and an impressive line-up. The venue, the Visarno Arena area, combines proximity to the city centre with ample space for large crowds.

The 2026 weekend centres around three main evenings: it opens with groove and rock led by Lenny Kravitz alongside Salmo, continues with a night entirely dedicated to pop with Robbie Williams. It closes in the melancholic atmospheres of The Cure, joined by cult bands such as Mogwai and The Twilight Sad.

Locus Festival

June, July and August

The Locus Festival is one of the most distinctive events among Italy’s summer music festivals. Rather than taking place in a single location, it unfolds across trulli houses, masserie (traditional farm estates), archaeological parks and castles in Puglia.

The programme moves between Alberobello, Castel del Monte, Ostuni, Locorotondo, the Castellana Caves and other iconic spots in and around the Itria Valley. Artists on the bill include David Byrne, John Legend, Johnny Marr, Marcus Miller, Skunk Anansie, Kneecap, Mannarino, Subsonica, Thundercat and many others.

Umbria Jazz

3 to 12 July

Umbria Jazz is an essential part of the season, transforming Perugia into a global capital of jazz and musical crossovers at the beginning of July. The heart of the main concerts is the Arena Santa Giuliana, where international stars and leading contemporary artists take the stage each evening, including singer-songwriters, jazz-fusion bands and legends of soul and pop.

For the 2026 edition, the programme alternates major event nights featuring names such as Sting, Jon Batiste, Zucchero, Elvis Costello and Gilberto Gil with orchestral projects dedicated to 20th-century masters.

At the same time, the Teatro Morlacchi hosts leading contemporary jazz musicians, while the Sala Podiani focuses on solo concerts. Free performances also take place in the squares of the historic centre.

Noisy Naples

23 to 24 July

The festival brings international bands and established names to the Arena Flegrea and other venues across the city of Naples, attracting audiences from all over Italy.

Key concerts planned for 2026 include the Neapolitan debut of Franz Ferdinand, the only Italian date by Kasabian with Planet Funk warming up the crowd, and a special show by Litfiba celebrating their history with a classic line-up.

Lucca Summer Festival

1 June to 31 July

The Lucca Summer Festival is renowned for its concerts held in the evocative setting of the Renaissance city walls and the central Piazza Napoleone. Each year it draws an international audience thanks to a mix of singer-songwriters, pop stars and rock and soul icons.

Running from 1 June to 31 July, the programme ranges from the emotional minimalism of Ludovico Einaudi to the art-pop vision of David Byrne, alongside Jamiroquai’s funk on the city walls, John Legend’s soul, the American rock of Alabama Shakes, the legend of Neil Young and the pop energy of Katy Perry.
