The demand for properties in Sicily continues to grow. The rich cultural heritage, the Mediterranean climate and fabulous landscapes are attracting international buyers, according to an analysis by the real estate company Engel & Völkers.
Christoph Feigenbutz, Country Manager of Engel & Völkers in Italy, explains that "in addition to private residences, we notice a growing trend of using second homes as an investment by renting them out".
What are the most popular areas? Taormina, Syracuse, Palermo Mondello and Cefalù. In Cefalù, properties, in particular villas, were sold for a maximum of 2 million euros. In the historic centre of Ortigia, in Syracuse, prices can reach 6,000 euros per square metre. According to Engel & Völkers' forecasts, prices will rise further in the coming months due to high demand.
