Italy's newest bonus has arrived as a part of the recent Energy Decree, where Italian residents can apply for a discount on utility bills. This is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, in collaboration with Inps.
Utility bill bonus discount, what is it?
The information released regarding Italy's utility bill bonus, which aims to offer residents in Italy discount on household bills, was provided directly by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, which explained that from 1st April to 31st December 2022, millions of families will be able to access it. The aim of the measure is to combat energy price increases.
The bonus discount in the bill refers to one of the latest measures introduced by the government which expanded the number of beneficiaries of the already existing social bonus for electricity and gas, raising the Isee threshold to 12,000 euros so that more households can take advantage of it.
Who can apply for Italy's utility bill bonus?
From 1st April to 31st December 2022, citizens with an Isee threshold of up to 12,000 euros can receive a discount on their household bills.
How to get a discount on your electricity and gas bill in Italy?
Let's have a closer look at how you can get this bonus and therefore a discount on electricity and gas bills in Italy. As explained by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, the process of accessing the bonus is automatic, since it is based on the National Integrated Information System.
Therefore in order to apply for this bill discount, it is sufficient to present a Dichiarazione Sostitutiva Unica (Single Self-Declaration) and obtain an Isee certificate. The declaration can be presented directly online, on the official INPS website (by accessing your MyINPS personal area and using the special service "Isee precompilato") or by using the active support of any CAF (Centro Assistenza Fiscale).
Once the Declaration has been received, INPS will automatically select the families that will be able to access the discount on their bills (on the basis of their Isee). The details of those who have been selected will then be communicated to the electricity or gas suppliers, who will autonomously and automatically apply the discount on the bill to the families who are entitled to it.
