Summer is here, which also means that the new university term is just around the corner. When it comes to the best student cities across the world, we're looking to the "Best Student Cities" ranking, published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a British company that specialises in the analysis of higher education institutions across the world. Several factors were taken into account to compile the ranking of the world's best student cities, including affordability, opportunity and students' opinions, and this year's top 100 features 2 Italian cities, Milan and Rome.
What is the best university city in the world?
The top spot in the ranking, which looked at 140 cities, is occupied by London, followed by Munich tied with Seoul. Rounding out the Top 10 are Zurich, Melbourne, Berlin, Tokyo, Paris, Sydney and Edinburgh.
Ben Sowter, senior vice president of QS said: "Responses to our surveys of students studying in London highlight that the city offers exceptional cultural, economic and educational opportunities. With two of the world's top 10 universities located in the city, London remains a world-leading educational centre'. He added: "It is however worrying that cities are becoming less affordable for students according to QS benchmarks, with a decline of just under 90 per cent in our Affordability indicator.
