Inflation figures in Italy are not encouraging. According to the latest Istat report, July saw an increase of 0.4 per cent on a monthly basis and 7.9 per cent on an annual basis. But what are the most expensive cities in Italy? This was announced by the National Union of Consumers, which, based on Istat data, has drawn up a ranking of cities according to price increases. Let's find out the top 10 most expensive cities in Italy in 2022.

The first step of the podium is occupied by Bolzano, which records an annual inflation of +10%, which translates into an additional annual expenditure of 2,658 euros per household. Second place is occupied by Trento, with an annual inflation rate of +9.5%, an additional annual expenditure of 2,486 euros. The third place on the podium is occupied by Milan, with an annual inflation rate of +8.1%, which translates into an additional annual expenditure of 2,199 euros per household in Italy.

The ranking of the top 10 most expensive cities in Italy in 2022 continues with Bologna (+8.6%, +2,145 euros), Brescia (+8.1%, +2,136 euros) and Ravenna (+8.8%, +2,127 euros) in fourth, fifth and sixth place. Seventh place is then occupied by Verona (+9.1%, +2,118 euros), eighth by Padua (+8.7%, +2,025 euros) and ninth by Florence (+8.6%, +2,006 euros). Finally, the ranking of Italy's most expensive cities is closed by Perugia (+8.6%, +1,976 euro).

According to the findings, the most virtuous city in terms of price rises is Campobasso, with inflation of 6.9% and additional expenditure for a family of 1,263 euros. This is followed by Catanzaro (+7.1%, +1,326 euro) and Bari (+7.8%, +1,354 euro). Rome, the capital, records an inflation rate of 7.5%, lower than the national average, with a higher expenditure of 1,756 euros compared to last year.
