Airelles Palladio Venice now open
Airelles

Set within a 16th-century property in Venice, directly facing St Mark’s Square, Airelles Palladio occupies one of the most remarkable positions in the lagoon. It marks the first time the French luxury hotel group has brought its heritage-led “art of living” to Italy.

Airelles Palladio Venice 2026 opening

The official opening is in April 2026, and reservations are already live. The hotel extends across nearly one hectare of private gardens, something genuinely rare in a city where courtyards are often intimate, and greenery comes in small doses.

At a glance:

  • 45 keys: 17 rooms and 28 suites
  • The Conventino villa with three bedrooms and a private pool
  • Nearly one hectare of landscaped gardens
  • Three swimming pools
  • A dedicated Kids Club
  • A spa described as the largest in Venice

Many 5-star hotels in Venice trade on history and proximity to landmarks, but few have the footprint for expansive gardens and multiple pools.

Why Airelles is expanding to Venice

Airelles has built its reputation in France through restored historic properties, referred to as “Maisons”, each with a strong narrative and heavy emphasis on craftsmanship.

This Venetian opening is the group’s first address outside France, signalling a step into international territory. Unlike the larger global luxury hospitality groups, Airelles remains relatively small and tightly curated.

Location spotlight: Giudecca Island

New French hotel in Venice
Airelles

The hotel sits on Giudecca, one of Venice's lesser-known islands, directly opposite the heart of Venice. You’re looking straight towards St Mark’s Square across the water, but you’re not in the thick of the day-tripper crowds.

Giudecca has long attracted artists and aristocrats, and historically it has had a more residential rhythm. There’s privacy here, but not isolation; vaporetto connections are straightforward, and private boat transfers place the historic centre within easy reach.

Restoration and Venetian craftsmanship

The building itself dates back to the 1500s and has lived several lives. Over the centuries, it has served as:

  • A lace-making atelier that once supplied Louis XIV
  • An aristocratic academy
  • A convent for noble widows
  • The church of Santa Maria della Presentazione

Inside, the décor leans heavily into Venetian refinement. Expect hand-painted frescoes, Rubelli fabrics and wall coverings, Fortuny textiles and custom chandeliers, and delicate Murano glassware.

Spa and wellness at Airelles Palladio Venice

Described as Venice’s largest spa, the wellness space reflects the scale of the wider estate rather than feeling like an afterthought.

  • A full-scale spa designed as a destination in its own right
  • Three swimming pools allowing for proper lengths as well as slower afternoons by the water
  • Considered zoning so families can use facilities without encroaching on quieter areas
  • A dedicated Kids Club, still uncommon at this level of the Venetian hotel market

Gastronomy at Airelles Palladio Venice

Four internationally acclaimed chefs are attached to the opening:

  • Nobu Matsuhisa
  • Jean-Georges Vongerichten
  • Norbert Niederkofler
  • Cedric Grolet

They will oversee three distinct dining venues. The launch includes the first Matsuhisa restaurant in Venice, bringing Nobu-style Japanese cuisine to the lagoon. Expect signature dishes and Omakase at dinner, alongside concepts shaped by the other chefs.
