Private islands for sale in Italy include a former Swarovski property in the Venice Lagoon, a 16th-century chapel near Marsala, traditional lagoon huts in Friuli Venezia Giulia and a Spanish viceregal fortress near Naples.

Not every seller has disclosed a price, and several listings involve constraints that could shape a future purchase, including protected status, partial public ownership or land that requires redevelopment.

The properties below are a selection highlighted by Milano Finanza in an article published on 30 August 2026.

Santa Cristina, Venice Lagoon — €24 million

Santa Cristina is the most expensive private island, with an asking price of €24 million. It sits in the northern Venice Lagoon between Torcello and Burano, roughly 20 minutes by boat from Venice.

The Swarovski family bought the island in 1986, and it is now being marketed for the first time since that purchase. The property includes a four-storey villa, separate farmhouse, chapel, heated saltwater pool, boathouse, private moorings, helipad and a vineyard used for Ammiana wine.

Santa Maria, near Marsala — €15 million

At €15 million, Santa Maria Island in western Sicily’s Stagnone Lagoon is the second-highest priced property in the selection.

Near Marsala, the island contains a 460 m² villa, a 16th-century chapel, caretakers’ accommodation and an animal shelter. Its grounds include olive groves and prickly pear cacti, while the surrounding area is used by kitesurfing enthusiasts.

Crevan Island, near Burano — €5.5 million

Crevan Island is listed near Burano in the Venice Lagoon for €5.5 million through the luxury estate agency Lionard.

It covers 5,700 m² and is associated with a Napoleonic fort. The source places it third in Italy’s private-island price ranking.

Isola degli Orbi, Grado Lagoon — €3 million

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, Isola degli Orbi has an asking price of €3 million. The 3.5-hectare property is in the Grado Lagoon and was acquired at a bankruptcy auction in 2025, followed by redevelopment works.

Its features include three casoni lagunari, the traditional lagoon huts of the area. A smaller private islet sits within the water enclosed by the island’s horseshoe-shaped landform and connects to the main island via a pier.

Raivarana Island, Friulian lagoon — €3 million

Raivarana Island, also in the Friulian lagoon, is listed at €3 million.

It has two artificial lagoons equipped for fish-related activity and is described as an important local fishing centre. A restaurant building remains on the property but is not currently operating.

Isola delle Femmine, Palermo province — €1.65 million

Isola delle Femmine, off the coast of the municipality of the same name in Palermo province, is listed at €1.65 million.

Rosolino Pilo, identified as a descendant of a Sicilian noble family, placed it on the market in 2017. The island is semi-abandoned and located within a nature reserve, where public funding may be available for restoration and environmental protection.

Ottagono San Pietro, Venice Lagoon — €1.5 million

Ottagono San Pietro is on sale for €1.5 million. It is one of the artificial defensive islets created by the Republic of Venice in the 16th century and remains largely undeveloped.

Its current owners commissioned plans for a roughly 500 m² villa, pool, private landing places, gardens and a helipad.

Ottagono Alberoni, Venice Lagoon — price undisclosed

Ottagono Alberoni is another 16th-century Venetian defensive islet on the market. Its starting price has not been made public.

Scoglio di Rovigliano, Gulf of Naples — price undisclosed

Off the Gulf of Naples, Scoglio di Rovigliano is topped by a Spanish viceregal fortress.

The source does not state a price. Ownership is divided among 23 heirs, with part of the property held by the Campania Region, which may complicate negotiations.
