If you like spending your holidays in the Italian mountains, buying yourself a second property in high altitudes can be a good option. Here we will tell you about prices per square metre in the main destinations according to data from the real estate platform, idealista.

The most popular mountain destination in Italy, for both summer and winter, is Cortina d'Ampezzo. The highest property prices are recorded in this municipality in Veneto: 10,423 euros/m2 (+1.2% with regards to last year). 

The second most expensive mountain holiday destination in Italy is no less famous or exclusive Courmayeur in the Aosta valley. Here, the price per square metre of a property is 6,481 euros. A small increase compared to the same period in 2018: 0.2%. The third destination is another city in Aosta: La Thuile. Here you'll find it costs 5,445 euros per square metre (-0.9% compared to 2018).

They are followed by Bormio, in the province of Sondrio (Lombardy). In order to buy a property here you have to spend 4,319 euros per square metre on average, which is 6.7% more than what was needed a year ago. However, this isn't the greatest difference recorded amongst the destinations on the ranking. In Pinzolo, prices increased by 7.9% in 2019. To buy a property in this area of Trento 4,036 euros per square metre are needed. This spikes higher in Madonna di Campiglio

The same can be said for Bolzano. Here the property prices are 3,492 euros per square metre (+0.6% compared to last year). But these are only average prices, which hide the highest prices of some locations such as Selvia di Val Gardena, Ortisei, Corvara. Near Turin, in Sestriere, the average price of a house per square metre is 3,176 euros, with a difference of +3.7% with regards to last year.
