An Italian spa has been ranked the 5th most beautiful in the world, and it’s not based on gushy reviews or glossy brochures. Eye‑tracking technology measured which spa images caught people’s attention fastest and held it the longest.

The world’s 5th most beautiful spa

Perched on a hillside within Alto Garda Park, Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda looks straight across the wide, glistening stretch of Lake Garda. It scored 83.8/100 in the SpaSeekers study, earning its place as the world’s 5th most beautiful spa.

The resort sits above the lake rather than directly on it, which means broad, open views across the water and surrounding foothills.

Within the spa itself, guests can expect:

  • Saltwater whirlpools facing the lake
  • Panoramic saunas with floor‑to‑ceiling views
  • Structured wellness programmes designed to be experienced alongside the natural surroundings

Why this spa ranked among the world’s most beautiful

The SpaSeekers study focused purely on visual impact, and that’s where this place quietly excels.

The spa’s hillside position in Alto Garda Park gives it an elevated, almost suspended feel above the lake. On clear days, the water appears emerald‑green near the shore and silvery further out, with mountains rising behind it.

The appeal lies in proportion, light, and that uninterrupted sweep across northern Italy’s largest lake.

How SpaSeekers ranked the world’s most beautiful spas

SpaSeekers.com compiled a list of 50 spas worldwide, each widely discussed for striking views or impressive interiors. The top spot globally went to The Lost Spring in New Zealand, which scored 96/100.

To rank them, 200 international participants took part in a study using eye‑tracking technology. Instead of asking people which spa looked nicest, researchers measured how viewers visually engaged with images of each location.

Planning a stay at Italy's most beautiful spa

If you’re considering a trip, timing matters. Lake Garda is at its clearest and brightest in late spring and early autumn, when the light is softer, and the summer crowds have thinned. July and August bring heat and boat traffic, which changes the atmosphere slightly.

The spa sits above Gargnano on the western shore, a quieter stretch compared to other Lake Garda towns. That side of the lake feels more rustic and less polished than places like Sirmione. It suits anyone who prefers space and scenery over nightlife.
