  • Abbazia Sant'Antimo: the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, a Romanesque church 5 miles away from Montalcino. This monastery, built with travertine stone, is surrounded by green hills, grass, olive trees and vineyards. The monks who live there do so by the Benedictine motto: Pray and Work.
  • Palazzo Pieri: A palace with a magic interior courtyard decorated with a stone well, this is the only example of 16th century architecture.
  • Fortress of Montalcino: Cross the Fortezza and explore it! The fortress was built to protect the town during the 14th century. The layout of the Fortress is an irregular pentagon with angular towers placed on each of the corners. Inside, the large courtyard is used as a theatre for shows and cultural events.
